From GeorgiaDogs.com: ATHENS, Ga. --- Not only will the meet against LSU on Jan. 26 be the Gym Dogs’ home-opener, it is also the team’s “Pink Out” meet to raise money for and awareness of the breast cancer disease. They are asking that all fans wear pink to the event, slated to begin in Stegeman Coliseum at 4 p.m.

“Ever since our former gymnast Talya Vexler was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, this has been a cause very close to our hearts,” Georgia head coach Suzanne Yoculan said. “We hope our fans will come support us not only in our meet against LSU, but in truly helping to make this Pink Out a success. If everyone takes part in our Coliseum Pink Out, we know this will be a special night for our team and for those out there fighting the horrible disease of breast cancer.”

Fans can purchase the official Pink Out T-shirt on georgiadogs.com or at Stegeman Coliseum the night of the meet. Shirts are $15 with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Athens Regional Breast Health Center.

By making donations to the Athens Regional Breast Health Center fans also will have their name entered for a chance to win the Pink Hope Scooter, donated by Cycle World of Athens.

“We know Georgia has some great fans and can make something like this work after seeing what they did in the football team’s Blackouts against Auburn and in the Sugar Bowl,” Yoculan said. “We hope this will be just as successful when we have our first meet at home of the year Saturday. We are excited to be competing in front of our own fans and to make a difference at the same time.”

Additional promotions for this weekend’s match include:

• First 5,000 fans receive the 2008 Georgia Gymnastics Schedule Magnet.
