From GeorgiaDogs.com: ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia defensive end Marcus Howard, tailback Thomas Brown, offensive lineman Chester Adams and kicker Brandon Coutu were selected on the second day of the annual NFL draft Sunday which included rounds three through seven.

Howard was chosen by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round, Brown was taken by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round, and in the seventh round Adams was selected by the Chicago Bears while Coutu went to the Seattle Seahawks.

Howard, the draft’s 161st overall selection, was named the recipient of the Miller-Digby Most Outstanding Player award in Georgia’s Jan. 1, 2008, Allstate Sugar Bowl game victory over Hawaii. He was the first defensive player to win the award since Alabama’s Barry Krauss in 1979.

Howard recorded four tackles, three sacks, two tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown in his final game in New Orleans. He started all 13 games in 2007 and finished his career with 79 tackles and 12 sacks.

He is the first Georgia player to be selected by the Colts since Tim Jennings in the second round of the 2006 draft.

Brown, the 172nd overall selection, finished his career at Georgia with 2,646 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 529 carries. He also had 39 pass receptions for 372 yards and two TD’s.

A graduate of Tucker High School, Tucker, Ga., he played in 40 games during his four-year career including 27 starts. His best game came against Ole Miss in 2007 when he rushed for 180 yards. Brown was elected by his teammates as a permanent offensive team captain in 2007.

Brown is the third Bulldog drafted by the Falcons in the last three years. Quarterback D.J. Shockley was selected in the seventh round in 2006 and tight end Martrez Milner was chosen in the fourth round last year.

Adams, the 222nd overall pick, made 23 starts in his Georgia career and was part of the offensive line that allowed only 17 sacks in 2006, ranking second best in the SEC. He was named to the All-SEC Freshman team in 2004.

Adams is the first Georgia player to be drafted by the Bears since kicker Kevin Butler was selected in the fourth round in 1985.

Coutu, the 235th overall selection, made 53-of-66 field goal attempts in his Georgia career including a career-long 58-yarder against Louisiana-Monroe in 2005. A graduate of Collins Hill High School in Lawrenceville, Ga., Coutu made 114 consecutive PATs in his career with no misses. He was elected by teammates as the permanent special teams caption in 2007.

Coutu finished with 11 points, 5-for-5 PATs and 2-for-2 on field goals in the Allstate Sugar Bowl including a BCS and Georgia bowl
