If you are in the Upstate of SC and a Dawg fan then you need to know that you are not alone. In fact we have reorganized the alumni association chapter here. Read more to find out how to get involved.

Here is the link for our new site for the Upstate SC UGA Alumni Association! By creating this site, we are bringing the group into the 21st century. It will serve multiple purposes...

1) Social networking sites are prevalent throughout the internet. This is obvious with the success of LinkedIn, Facebook, and MySpace. To stay up to date on this trend, we've created a group for Dawgs in the Upstate. The best part about this one is the site will be guided to promote alumni events and, if you create a personal page, yourself/business.

2) A calendar of events that is open to view from members and non-members alike. Let's face it, not everyone will want to set up a page to stay informed, and we don't want them to have to. Our only goals are to generate higher event turnout and make it easier for everyone to keep up to date.

3) Links and RSS feeds to UGA sites. Notice all of the sites on the left hand side that are listed. This is all any alumni needs to stay current with what's going on in Athens. You'll also notice under the calendar that we have RSS feeds directly from the student paper, The Red and Black.

Please remember that this is a work in progress. I encourage any and all recommendations on how you think this site could be better. Don't feel obligated by any means, but the more of you that can create a personal page, the more internet exposure (thereby driving membership) we'll get. No matter what, please share information regarding this site to other Dawg alumni and fans alike.

We initially sent it out to about 30-40 people that had previously responded to e-mails, and we've had a great response. In less than a month we are now up to 95 members! If you are in the Upstate and you love the Dawgs we encourage you to get involved.
