Georgia earned its 23rd invitation in 25 editions of the NCAA Tournament, the second-best tally of any school in the nation behind only
Tennessee and Louisiana Tech, which have competed in all 25 tourneys.
The Lady Bulldogs will take on Marist, the region's No. 14 seed, on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. ET at Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, N.J. Sunday's winner will face the winner of the matchup between No. 6-seeded Temple and No. 11-seeded Hartford on Tuesday night.
"Lots of people speculated that we would be a No. 3," Georgia coach Andy Landers said. "The only thing I've looked at was the rpi, and I didn't look at that until about a week ago. We were at No. 12, which means we should be a No. 3. That's what we are so I'm pleased."
Tickets for the games are on sale HERE.
Tickets also are available by calling the UGA Ticket office toll free at 877-542-1231 between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. beginning on Tuesday morning.
Tickets for Sunday's session are $30. Should the Lady Bulldogs advance, tickets for Tuesday's game -- also $30 would automatically be charged to purchasers of Sunday's tickets. No tickets will be available on-site in Athens; all tickets purchased will be picked up on a will call basis in Trenton.
Georgia and Marist met for the first and only time last season, a 79-62 win on Dec. 21 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Tasha Humphrey scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Bulldogs, while Cori Chambers added 20 points and Janese Hardrick chipped in 15. Kristin Keller led the Red Foxes with 20 points.
"Off the top of my head, I remember them being very good defensively," Landers said. "I also remember them having a very big, strong, physical presence in the paint who could really rebound the ball. I believe they shot it pretty well from the outside."
With the University of Georgia on Spring Break this week, the Lady Bulldogs are practicing twice a day in preparation for this weekend.
"I think we're right where we need to be," Landers said. "When you look at the big picture and all we went through before the season, you couldn't ask any more of them. This is their spring break. All their buddies are in Destin, but they act like they are genuinely happy to be here getting ready for what's ahead of us."
