The Dawgs survived another physical war down at Auburn and locked up the SEC East. Munson also noted the QB at Texas Tech whom knocked down Texas, and also Ohio St.'s scare. Iowa St., NC State and Oregon were unbeaten for many weeks, but each now have several losses. Now there are some highly ranked teams the Dawgs are right in the midst of.
Munson asked CMR how proud the coaches were of guys whom stepped up. MJ had a career within a day with all those catches. Before all that, we had Sean Jones who made plays to keep us in the game. We finally used one of his plays in the end. And the turnovers kept them from scoring more points.

The offense wasn't doing a thing in the first half, and the defense was having its troubles as well. If not for those plays by Jones, it could've been 28-0 at half.

It took a lot to come out and have a drive like we did to start the second half. We needed the first drive to settle the game down. Then Auburn showed what they were made of. When things looked the most bleak, Musa stepped up and made what could have been the biggest play of the game with that run off the goal line.

CMR not sure whether we lost anyone. Breedlove was banged up pretty bad, but played in the second half after he hurt his knee. CMR acknowledged (a caller addressed rumors it is an ACL injury) that could be a possibility - though the doctors weren't sure - but Breedlove gutted it out anyway CMR will check with Courson tomorrow.

For the off week, we take Monday off, practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, then take the weekend off. We'll start cranking it up Tuesday and come up with a good plan for Tech. The Grad Assts. are breaking down film; CMR told the assistants not to come into the office today but instead spend time with their families. They generally adhered to that but a couple snuck in for a bit. We need to take care of the Georgia state championship - it is the most important of the state championships to take care of for recruiting and bragging rights.

Bert in Norcross opened up the callers tonight, and loved the "designed" play where Greene fumbled into the end zone for Stinchcomb to recover. Greg Blue stepped up to play, getting a lot of work because Curry had a 102° fever the night before the game. The fever broke Saturday morning, but Curry tried to play and really didn't have much gas.

Coach Eason decided the best way to go was with other WRs other than Reggie Brown. We didn't use much 4 WR sets anyway, as Damien Gary is the guy who makes that stuff work.

Munson & CMR took note of the crowd that greeted the team in Newnan on Friday afternoon. It was like Picture Day all over again, plus some great BBQ.

CMR likes to defer, especially the way the team has played this year. You want to put the defense on the field early and get an early stop. In a game like this, it helps that if you have a rough half, then you get the ball to start the second half, and can do something to swing momentum your way.

Auburn showed us some option in the first half which gave us some trouble. If we prepared for it, we didn't do very well. But we made some great adjustments. CMR is quite proud of the coaches for seeing what was going on and making those adjustments.

Just before 8:30, Munson's call of the winning TD was replayed coming out of a commercial break. GLORY! GLORY! Munson thinks again that one day he'll have to learn not to take the Lord in vain during those moments. The next two callers complimented CMR on his Christian leadership.

CMR wrote down the name of a recruit some caller gave out and will make sure we're not overlooking someone.

Bert in Roswell wonders if our "home" really is on the road. And he mentioned a Gator friend who was watching the game and couldn't believe how composed CMR is. CMR thinks if we'd just admit Jacksonville is a Florida home game we can start winning it again.

The players were unbelievable at halftime. While the coaches were getting their thoughts together, there was some "soul searching" going on. Stinchcomb jumped up and challenged his fellow linemen. We could've had some panic, finger-pointing and other things, but we regouped. We just talked about how it was only 14-3 though it could've been worse. Our second half performance was no surprise to CMR after what Stinchcomb had to say. He didn't get so much into foul language as it was a challenge - look at your teammate and don't let that guy down. It was in a positive way more than berating.

The winning TD play- 70 X Takeoff. Greene is to fake to the "Z" (Gibson) to get the safety out of position, then throw to Johnson. CMR thought he would be our best jump ball guy with Gibson's hurt hand. Plus we figured they would double- cover Fred. They tried to double both guys, but we got the safety out of position.

Wayne from Athens, a freshman student, told CMR he was giving him a heart attack. CMR told Wayne he is too young for that. Wayne asked about using Shockley as a WR, but CMR said DJ is a QB, and it is tough to train a guy other than a couple of gadget plays.

Taylor from Moultrie made it in, hoarse voice and all. Having gone to games since he was 4, he wondered if he'd ever get to see the Dawgs get to the top. CMR is enjoying it very much right now.

Another call (Gary) challenged the fans ... if everyone contributed $10 for every win, we could just about rebuild some stuff and really upgrade facilities. CMR said we're in the process of getting things done. But it has really been miserable planning practice these last few weeks with bad weather. We need to get that indoor facility done sooner or later. We don't like the Astroturf field and don't want to tear up the stadium. But the new synthetic turf common with indoor facilities isn't too bad.

The way we've won lots of our games this year did a lot towards keeping our guys from getting cocky. We haven't been blowing teams out, then you turn on the film of the next opponent and see it's going to be yet another war.

How are some of the RBs doing? CMR can't address one guy, since he is still a prospect. But Hollis is continuing to work to get healthy. We hope he is 100% by next season. Cooper and Gillam are being redshirted, are both doing a great job in school, and are looking forward to another chance to compete. Next spring will be very exciting.

D Gary is getting better quickly, as is Edwards. Both think they'll play in the championship game and maybe even the Tech game. CMR doesn't think they'll be ready for Tech, but the way they're working with Courson, who knows.

The DL is doing a great job - Sullivan has been the mainstay and a bunch of other guys have stepped up. Dale Dixson is doing a superb job on the scout team, along with Mudcat, Quentin Moses and Ray Gant. We've got four guys on the scout team whom are giving us lots of problems. We knew we would redshirt Dixson since he was only 17 years old when he got here.

As for Auburn having so many players from Georgia, the good news for Georgia and Ga. Tech is that there are so many great players in the state you can't sign all of them. There are some guys who are into staying home but some who just want to go away to school.

On kickoffs, you have to be careful that if you try to kick it out of the end zone and they happen to catch it - even five yards in the end zone - that your coverage team can't get downfield.

Munson closed by again begging CMR not to scrimmage the team this week, especially since it is an off week. CMR laughed and said we had to stay sharp, otherwise we wouldn't be able to tackle anyone.
